In supporting Metacoda Plug-ins, one of the most useful things for us to review is the SAS Management Console log file SASMCErrorLog.txt. If you have ever had to look at this file yourself, or ask someone to email you a copy, then you would know it can be tricky to explain where to find it. So, to make it easier to access, and remove this friction, we have added a small enhancement to the recently released Metacoda Plug-ins 6.1 R6.
After installing Metacoda Plug-ins 6.1 R6, if you look in the SAS Management Console Tools menu you will see a new View SAS Management Console Log File... action. It opens the SAS Management Console log file SASMCErrorLog.txt by launching a standard text editor.

This is a tip for those who use the Metacoda Security Plug-ins Batch Interface for scheduled automation of SAS® metadata security reporting, testing and identity synchronization. You will find this tip useful if you are using the same configuration values in multiple batch configuration or Identity Sync Profile (IDSP) XML files and would like a way to specify these values in a single places rather than maintain them in multiple locations.

This tip was prompted by a question from a Metacoda customer who, having seen a SAS® metadata object id in a log file (e.g. A53GCFFH.AP00001D), wanted to quickly identify what SAS metadata object that id referred to. As a Metacoda Plug-ins user they have access to the Metacoda Metadata Explorer plug-in which supports simple text based metadata searches as well as special-mode SAS XMLSELECT queries. These latter types of queries allow us to pinpoint the single object using this query:

This is a short post to let those readers who run or schedule Metacoda Plug-ins in batch know that, with the recent Metacoda Plug-ins 6.1 R1 release, we have published a GitHub repository to help with setup of the Metacoda Plug-ins Batch Interface. You can find this new repository, together with setup instructions, at https://github.com/Metacoda/metacoda-plugins-batch-setup
The main benefit of this Metacoda Plug-ins Batch Interface Setup Utility is the automation of much of the previous manual work involved in setting up and site-specific tailoring of the batch interface samples. It also includes additional batch exports for Authentication Domains and External Identities (from the new Auth Domain Reviewer and External Identity Manager plug-ins). The Metacoda recommended practice starter tests for SAS metadata security have also been updated.
